In March, the Thunder Chickens rugby team took top honors in the Kansas City 7s tournament, clinching their spot in the 2024 Collegiate Rugby 7s Championship.

After outscoring their opponents 98–7 in three matches leading up to the finals, the Thunder Chickens defeated Iowa Central 12–7 in an overtime battle to take home the title. Principians Fran Alessio, Damir Conci, Andy Naringo, and Celino Petersen were named to the All-Tournament team.

Next up, the Thunder Chickens will compete in the Big Rivers conference tournament in Indianapolis on April 14 before heading to the Maryland SoccerPlex in the Washington D.C. area for Nationals on April 26–27.
